Cristiano Ronaldo set a new goalscoring record as his side Al Nasr beat US Monastir 4-1 in the Arab Club Champions Cup at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Ronaldo started the comeback with a clinical header in the 74th minute, scoring his 145th header, a career-high, surpassing Gerd Muller's previous tally of 144 goals
It was also Al Nassar’s first victory of the season after an unbeaten victory against Al Shabab in the previous match.
Al Nass got the match off to a strong start as former Inter Milan legend Marcelo Brozovic pulled the strings alongside former Lens captain Seko Fofana.

In the 42nd minute, the attack initiated by Brozovic finally resulted in victory. Croatia's long ball on the left was well saved by Abdulrahman Gharib who set up Anderson Talisca to open the scoring.

But a mistake by Al Nassar keeper Ali Lazami, while trying to clear the ball, headed the ball into his own net to make it all square, six minutes on the hour mark after the 1990s

It was then that Ronaldo scored his 839th goal as his record burst into the stadium.

After that, the momentum of the game was kept entirely Al Nasr, with Abdulaila Al Amri and Abdulaziz Saud Al Elewai scoring two goals in the last two minutes of the game

The victory moved Al Nassar to the top of their group in the King Salman Club Cup, level on points with Al Shabab but ahead on goal difference.

The result will also be a relief for Ronaldo's mixed side against European clubs, including two defeats against Benfica and Celta Vigo
