How to install Kali Nethunter on any Android device

Step-by-Step Guide: Installing Kali Nethunter on Any Android Device

Popular open-source Android ROM penetration testing software is Kali NetHunter. Older OnePlus phones, certain older Samsung Galaxy phones, and older Nexus devices are also compatible with the ROM, thanks to the developers that created it.

However, some resourceful individuals have discovered a method to set up Kali NetHunter on the majority of Android gadgets. Remember that this technique is incredibly unofficial, so you're downloading the app on your phone at your own risk.

What is Kali Nethunter?

Based on the Kali Linux operating system, which is maintained by the business Offensive Security, the platform was originally introduced in 2014. It enables the installation and usage of the company's Kali toolkit on a variety of hardware powered by Android. It primarily functions as a network security tool with Android product mobility. It comes with a touch-screen-optimized program to manage network threats more effectively.

Get your phone ready in advance

Your Android smartphone must be rooted using a tool like SuperSu before you download and install this ROM on it. The BusyBox app from the Google Play Store must also be installed. On your Android device, there should be a ton of free storage. Last but not least, having ready-to-use custom ROMs like CM12, CM12.1, and CM13 is a fantastic idea but not necessary.

Installing Kali NetHunter

To install this ROM on your Android smartphone or tablet, follow these steps:

  • As soon as your phone is ready, visit the Offensive Security website and download the Kali NetHunter ROM version for your Android version.

  • Once that’s done, you should extract the Zip file. Then go to /data/app and install the apps present in that folder.
  • Open up your preferred root explorer app, and go to /data/data/com.offsec.nethunter/files/scripts.
  • Copy all the files and paste them into /system/bin (if you don’t see the folder or content in files/scripts, open the NetHunter app and then close it and check again).
  • Open the Nethunter App, go to the Kali Chroot Manager, and install Minimal Chroot. You can also select Full Chroot, but this is not recommended.
  • Open Terminal Emulator or nh-terminal and choose KALI. This will open up the Kali shell. You may be prompted to allow root permission.
  • Run the following commands in the terminal one by one: apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get dist-upgrade, apt-get install kali-linux-nethunter.

Setup Kali NetHunter's Metasploit

Installing the Metasploit testing program is also required if you want to make the most of Kali NetHunter. You may start it at boot by setting it to Start at Kali Services Tab on the main Nethunter App, or you can perform the command msfdb init. Then, launch any program that uses Metasploit or use the command msfconsole to start Metasploit.

Try the GUI tools in Kali NetHunter

While you can now use this on your rooted Android device, you may also want to use its GUI tools. If that’s the case, you also need to install and enable a VNC viewer.

  • First, launch Kali Terminal and type the command apt-get install tightvncserver.
  • Enter the command vncserver:1 -geometry 1280720 -depth 16 to launch VNC Server.
  • After that, you ought now be able to download and launch any VNC Viewer from the Google Play Store. To connect it to the Kali NetHunter GUI, configure it using the following information.

Alias: Kali Linux

Password: The password you set before

Address: 127.0.0.1 or your Private IP

Port: 5901 (Depends on display, i.e., for display 2, Port will be 5902 and so on)

Username: root

You may do this to install this well-liked ROM on your Android smartphone or tablet.
